Lovecraft's nonfiction back on the Sofa
Jul. 18th, 2011 03:22 pmAnother dose of podcast goodness for Lovecraftians:
eldritchhobbit 's monthly "Looking Back on Genre History" segment on StarShipSofa No. 197 returns to H.P. Lovecraft's nonfiction.
"Supernatural Horror in Literature," "Some Notes on Interplanetary Fiction," and "Notes on Writing Weird Fiction" are the essays discussed this time -- with particular emphasis on "Supernatural Horror in Literature," possibly Lovecraft's most important nonfiction effort. Once again, Dr. Amy H. Sturgis provides both entertainment and detailed information . .. and reminds those of us who may have read SOME of Lovecraft's nonfiction WAY too long ago to go back & do it right this time. (Blush.)
Find all this here, or on iTunes under StarShipSofa. If you're not a regular Sofa listener, don't forget to download episode No. 196 as well -- you wouldn't want to start the serial narration of Rachel Swirsky's " The Lady Who Plucked Red Flowers Beneath The Queen’s Window" in the middle, would you? This one is done by
eldritchhobbit as well, & is turning out to be an elegant fantasy treat I hadn't expected.
