Lovecraftian laptop lit!
Jun. 30th, 2009 12:17 pmIf you're looking for some lunchtime -- or patio time -- Mythos reading, check out the Summer Fiction issue of Innsmouth Free Press. This first issue is available online or as a PDF download, with the download having a creepily attractive "natural history" cover.
The water-themed issue offers six stories, including a couple of flash fictions. Here's the table of contents:
- Nick Mamatas And Then, And Then, And Then …
- Pamela K. Kinney Azathoth is Here
- Robert Borski The Cthulhu Whisperer
- Caroline Totten By the Sea, By the Sea
- Kírk Barrett A Bedtime Story
- Paula R. Stiles Swimming Lessons off the North Shore
I was happy to notice that fully half the bylines were female, which is unusual in the Lovecraftian world. The stories are mostly modern, which is a nice change as well. The IFP site also features interviews with four of the authors.
(In the interests of full disclosure: I do have a story forthcoming in the fall issue.)
