ankh_hplIn recognition of Memorial Day, this week's Montage from The Haiku Foundation (selected as usual by Allan Burns) has a Life & Death theme. Poets this time around include Nick Virgilio, George Swede, and Chad Lee Robinson.
As befits the theme, many of these twenty-one haiku have a distinctly dark -- often elegiac -- resonance, enhanced by the compression of the form. Fans of speculative or Gothic poetry shouldn't miss these.
