This is a bit late for Veterans Day, but I recently came across a very comprehensive site for the Austrian poet Georg Trakl.   Like such better-known literary figures as Rupert Brooke and Wilfred Owen, he was a casualty of the First World War -- on the opposing side.  A brilliant and troubled dark poet, he served as a medic in the Austrian army.  He committed suicide in 1914,  after a breakdown brought on by caring for over ninety of his seriously wounded comrades following the battle of Grodek.

Wikipedia also offers a short entry on Trakl, with a few more links to his poems.
