Sorry to post this so late in the week, but I can't resist a chance to share so much really good, amazingly brief poetry.

This week's Montage from The Haiku Foundation features one-liners (in English) from three noted practitioners: Matsuo Allard, Stuart Quine, and Jeff Stillman.  If you don't believe that  meaningful poems can be created with as few as five words, you really owe it to yourself to check out their work.

I've been reading and rereading them over the past couple of days, and am amazed at how much can be done in a single line.  Having attempted a few myself over the years, I can assure you that one-liners are not as simple as they look!   In fact, they're extremely demanding -- every word matters, even more so than in other verse forms -- but rewarding if done well.

These 21 are done very, very well.
