new haiku resource & Montage this week
May. 12th, 2009 02:52 pmThe Haiku Foundation, a nonprofit whose mission is " to archive the accomplishments of the first century of haiku in English
and to create greater opportunities for its second," finally has its new Web site ready for public viewing. This is a great site for anyone looking for links to haiku organizations or blogs. There is also a bibliography project (in progress) edited by Charles Trumbull, and many other features of interest.
Montage, the weekly selection of comparative haiku edited by Allan Burns, is now a part of this site as well. This week's topic is "Women's Experience," featuring the works of Chiyo-ni, Anita Virgil, and Ruth Yarrow. I always enjoy this mini-lesson on haiku history and practice, but this week's offerings have convinced me to reread them at least twice already.
