Scifaikuest & the Problem With Seasons
Aug. 19th, 2008 04:14 pm Just found out over the weekend that I sold an sf haibun to Scifaikuest http://www.samsdotpublishing.com/scifaikuest/cover.htm It should appear in the Feb. 09 print edition of this small press magazine of short-short verse forms.
I also discovered that Scifaikuest had accepted a kasen renga (90+ line linked form) I did this spring with Wade German and
dreamnnightmare For those unfamiliar with such collaborative Japanese forms, writing a renga involves "shifting and linking" between specified themes and seasons. Since the three of us had decided to do a Lovecraftian renga with as many of the rules as possible, this meant having to decide which Mythos entities were appropriate to which seasons! This resulted in some very peculiar e-mails, but we were pleased with the results. Check out the Nov. 08 print issue if you're curious, too.
