(astronomical) double event tonight
Feb. 27th, 2009 02:23 pmSorry, Ripperologists . . . tonight's "double event" comes courtesy of
science_at_nasa , where a Pretty Sky Alert has been issued for tonight, Feb. 27th, at sunset. A 10% crescent moon will be gliding by Venus, offering a really striking pair of lights in the sky.
Moon-Venus conjunctions are not all that unusual, apparently, but this one should be special. Venus is at its brightest just now, the moon-Venus separation is only about 1 degree (in North America), and both the moon and Venus are crescents.
I'm posting this especially for the poet / artist types -- let's get out there and get ourselves some free inspiration!
